Conserving Community Resources

We partner with the Town of Jackson and Teton County to ensure several beloved community open spaces are managed for people with protection in mind.

Community Open Space

Karns Meadow

Karns Meadow is 41 acres of important wetlands fed by Flat Creek, which bisects the meadow from the northeast corner to the southwest corner. The park is open to people from dawn to dusk, and is also frequented by a host of wildlife species such as moose, mule deer, bald eagles, and osprey. Camping is not allowed.

Emily’s Pond

Emily’s Pond is a popular recreational trailhead and landing for the pedestrian bridge over the Snake River. A portion of a historical gravel pit, the property now hosts ponds, wetlands, and sagebrush habitat frequented by wildlife species such as moose, mule deer, foxes, and trumpeter swans. Camping is not allowed.

Flat Creek Corridor Jackson Hole

Community Open Space

Flat Creek Corridor

From Russ Garaman Park west to the Bridger-Teton National Forest boundary, an easement protects the south side of Flat Creek, popular trails and the community pathway. This area along the base of Snow King is well-loved by people and wildlife alike, including mule deer and moose. Camping is not allowed.

Community Open Space

High School Butte

This community open space is located on the southwest-facing slopes of High School Butte. It is an important refuge for wildlife, including mule deer crucial winter range, above the light and noise from an increasingly dense residential area and is subject to winter wildlife closures. As a trail network is improved, this property is accessible from the classic High School Butte switchbacks on the adjacent property owned by the Teton County School District. The conservation of this parcel safeguards public access to open space in the heart of Jackson.
