R Park Lantern Trail
Monday, December 21, 2020, 4:00 pm-Saturday, January 2, 2021, 6:00 pm
In lieu of our R Park Winter Solstice Celebration, join us for a socially distanced (yet festive!) twist. You’re invited to celebrate the shortest day and longest night of the year by experiencing the self-guided R Park Lantern Trail.
R Park’s pathways will be lit from December 21 through January 2 with solar lanterns decorated in art classes across Jackson Hole. These 250 lanterns will guide the way as families and community members of all ages meander through the open field, past the wooded glades, and along the frosted pond.
The lanterns will be hung on Monday, December 21, and free, individually-wrapped cookies will be available at the welcome structure from 4-6 pm to celebrate the opening of the R Park Lantern Trail. Out of an abundance of caution, there will be no group festivities this year, and people are encouraged to enjoy the lights at their own convenience and in a safe manner respecting county social distancing guidelines.
