Construction Update: Welcome Kiosk Completed

Just a short 5 months ago, we began to build a welcome kiosk at Rendezvous Park. With a vision, partnerships, and a couple of holes in the ground, the kiosk is now completed and provides a shaded area and user-friendly R Park Map that offers trail usage guidance and information, including designation of the recently completed dog-friendly loop. The welcome kiosk was made possible through generous funding from the Kemmerer Foundation and through the work of the local organizations that designed and built the welcome kiosk and creative signage:GYDE Architects, Orijin Media, Teton Signs, Stewart Construction Services, and Serenity Development & Management. Please stop by to check out the new map and be on the lookout for new signs and trail markers throughout the park!

R Park is a product of community feedback and its values. “When we first got the park we did three different open houses, and then we did an online survey where we received over 500 responses,” said Jackson Hole Land Trust President, Laurie Andrews. What we found through tremendous community outreach is that our users value the park as an overall family friendly area. The completed welcome kiosk is a family friendly space where kids can get an overview of the park. We are excited for the picnic area coming in summer 2018 which will provide another shaded, family-friendly spot in the park.

Thanks to the LOR Foundation, we have been able to continue reclamation of the space while keeping the park open and accessible. Park improvements are made possible by the  $1.7 million grant awarded to Jackson Hole Land Trust (JHLT)  by the LOR Foundation to complete the community’s vision of the park. We are thankful to be able to continue reclamation of these 40 acres of open space for all to enjoy.

Below you can view the transformation of the welcome kiosk from start to finish through photos that highlight progress over the past 5 months:

Trail Signage

Recent visitors may have noticed large structures or posts strategically placed around R Park’s trails, these are our new trail markers and welcome signs! The trail posts, designed by GYDE Architects, match the Welcome Kiosk’s aesthetic and are now 90% complete with a comprehensive map designating the dog loop and R Park’s “Do’s and Dont’s”.

What’s next?

The area surrounding the Welcome Kiosk is part of a larger Welcome Plaza area that will include a covered picnic shelter, restrooms, and a seating area.

Be “R” Ambassador

As we move forward with construction and reclamation of the property, we are always in need of helpful volunteers to guide visitors and act as ambassadors for the patrons of R Park. If you’re interested in volunteering please click here.
